Movie Reviews: Red & Unstoppable
The movies I have seen recently is Red and Unstoppable.
Now let's start with Red.
The story goes that couple of extreme, professional, old school ex-operatives. In which they get hunted down because of unknown reasons. It starts with the hardcore action hero Bruce Willis as the main character in the movie. As it progresses the movie introduces some pretty amazing actors, such as Morgan Freeman(Jack of all trades), Helen Mirren (Actress who played the Queen), John Malkovich(Also Jack of all trades) and the 'lady' of the movie is Mary-Louise Parker (quite hot I might add).
Some of you may know that the movie Red is based on a comic book. I think there are some areas that are quite dull, simply because there was an intense scene and then boom. The scene after dies down and makes the whole movie a rollcoaster, going up with excitement and action and goes down with some simple jokes and talk.
I always think that action movies should be old school style. As in Die Hard, Commando, Rambo. At start the hero either gets into trouble or realize someone they treasure gets in trouble. The middle you would realize the evil doers are planning a bigger plot than we thought they were doing. Then the big fight, where the hero goes all out trying to save the day. Throw in a couple of jokes that guarantee a chuckle throughout the movie and there you go, an hardcore, old school style action movie.
Essentially the style of old school style action movie does sort of gets mixed with this movie Red but I have to say there's been a couple of gaps that the audience may find a bit dull. Since before it was full of action and intensely, we as the audience lose all the commotion and excitement because of the gaps.
However, overall I think the movies is not bad. If you like Die Hard, Die Hard with Vengence, Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard). The movie does have quite an stylish lady holding an machine gun and constantly shooting at cars, that was pretty cool. Mixed in with some jokes here and there, the movie is actually pretty good (but not as good as the classic action movies).
In comparison Red and Unstoppable. I must say that unstoppable has more of a the movie speed style. The movie is quite simple, its just a series of chain events that causes a train to be unstoppable.
The intensely of the movie is actually quite good. However, I did realize that if you take away the background music of the movie, the excitement goes down. And as all movies that punches the intense into your gut that quick, the movie ends quite short. Either way in the end, I do recommend the movie to everyone to watch that wants a thrill ride with a movie.
Probably at the end of the movie, it is actually quite a simple movie, that just so happens to have a set of chain events causing the problem to become bigger and bigger.

Is Reverse Engineering a now a everyday routine?
It has only been less than 2 weeks since the release of Xbox 360 Kinect, release 4th of November in the US. I already seen two or three videos or articles about a mod from the Kinect.
Just think about it. The world now revolves around technology. Every single new piece of hardware comes out. Someone would have tools on one and computer on the other. Electronic products are being reverse engineered as we know it. There would be copies or modified hardware to suit the modder or hacker's needs.
I think what I hate is that company are becoming very protective of their products. In the world today, people are going to hack and mod it there's no doubt about it. I think they should be happy that some group of people is spending time to look into their product trying to understand how it works. Not every product gets reverse engineered, only the popular or products that people believe it has potential.
Everyday thousands or even millions of electronic products comes out in to the market to do one thing earn some money. Companies become so obsessed with money that they forgot the whole point of producing the product in the first place. AND To make it worst nearly all the big companies (and I mean multi-billionaire companies) goes off complaining about people hacking their products. They earn so much money! I bet if they dont get any sales for couple of months, they would still survive with no employees fired.

WTH CoD:BO?!
Ok, it's 8:26AM on the 9th November, 2010.
I bought Call of Duty Black Ops last night at 7pm on the 8th of November 2010. It suppose to come out on the 9th November, 2010. So I was really happy to get it early, hoping to play the singleplayer mode last night.
HOWEVER, like many enthuastic people cannot play or EVEN INSTALL the bloody game until it is the 9th. Here is what happens, when you click to install, everyone I guess was expecting Windows installer system to show up. Sadly no. It first says preparing system components to install. After it jumps into steam, to install the game. When you click next to continue install, a little devil popup window shows up and says along the lines of you cannot install this game yet.
SO I waited until it was midnight until it was the 9th. THAT didn't work. I even changed changing Windows Time and Date settings or the GMT time zones to Australia (I heard their games work). I even set download region from Steam to Australia. I got zip, nothing, the space inside a vacuum.
As of right now, I'm suspecting it the bloody game DVD itself. The Game DVD is probably from the US and Steam thinks that I'm in US. DUDE just look at my IP Address accessing into your Steam, it obliviously SAYS HK!
I know this is stupid to be complaining about. "Its a game dude just wait til the 9th" NO this is actually about the integrity of Steam systems. Dude if Australia works, how come mine doesnt? I waited til 12, Steam should let me, Why hasn't it?
Ugh now I have to go to work, knowing that many people had already finish playing the singleplayer. Now playing multiplayer ranking up, having loads and loads of fun. I was playing MoH, it suxed.... I wanted a good FPS and CoD was a calling. Darn you Steam, Darn you installation restrictions and Darn you Call of Duty Black Ops publisher Actvision, developer Treyarch.

Medal Of Honor Review
I think the game is MEH.
It's quite realistic, but there are something that needs to be change.
Graphics were good I probably give 7/10.
Storyline wasn't much, a bit like Call of Duty but without the Zazz. You know what I mean? I'll say it should be 5/10.
Features? We'll, I didn't see much of a feature compared with all the other FPS/War/Realistic games.
You finish the game in an hour, like as if you had a blackout. What happen to games that gets exponentially difficult as you dive deeper. I remember first time playing Crysis, a huge boss in the end took me agesss to beat it. It was hard, that what's made it awesome to play! I played Crysis like 4-5 times!
To make it worst the game end in this crappy conversation trying to say something really philosophical or something like it! It's like a crappy movie where the evil guy is dead, but then a guy in the background says hey look another evil horde (end scene). Seriously what is up with that?! The least you can do is make the last fight or whatever to be epic!
Multi-player was quite annoying especially the snipers, there's pretty much no bullet time or a projectile effect (gravity pulling the bullet). It was like Counter-Strike but with less weapons. The maps doesn't really have proper cover spots, there's always some part of your body showing or holes in weird places. If you know the map well, you can get ALOT of kills. Spawn points are awful, and so many times, I either got killed or I killed someone from spawning in an open area. By the time you move, you get shot by a sniper and your dead.
It was small map, I was actually hoping for like similar approach like battlefield bad company 2. Medium size map with 20-30 players. But they didn't. The ranking ain't much to be high and mighty about, since it bloody easy to go up the rankings.
Here's a question, if i can prone in singleplayer, why can't I prone in multiplayer? As a sniper that is quite a useful position to aim and shoot people down. What you could do in singleplayer to be equal to what you could do in multiplayer no?
You know what, this game was quite focus for console gamers not for PC gamers. The simple and small menu size and layout is quite common for consoles. PC games have limited freedom to pick so do. This is what I hate, games that were design for console and changed to PCs. It's not RIGHT!. PC are not the same as consoles~! PCs should have the choice to be like Crysis.
This game overall should be around 5/10. I wouldn't recommend for serious war/action adrenaline junkies or console players. It isn't worth the money for it. I swear they spent most of their budget on advertising than the game itself.

Humans are just Awesome
This is just amazing. A compilation of all the amazing, improbable feats we humans can do.
I got this from Kotaku! Thanks.
Copper Wire = 825Mbps!?!?!
I am really impressed at this. Not every single building housing around the global has fiber optic cables.
You guys might know the difference but here's physics 101. Copper wire, is just a very conductive metal both heat and electricity. All we need to know is that when electricity is pass through the wire, we can have signals. Its like Morse code, there are 1s and 0s or on and off, these 1s and 0s are pieces of code in which your computer would have the device or the algorithm to translate to useful packets of data.
The difference between Copper wire and fiber optics is that fiber optic cables uses light. Light are pretty much the fastest type of communication we can use known to date. The speed of light is ~300 000 000 metres / per second, and copper wires don't go that fast. The fiber optic cable uses, long strains of glass fiber flexible of course and wrapped with a reflective sheeting. This allows the light to bounce all the way from one to the other. It's a brilliant idea, but you have to ensure that the fiber optic is good quality, so over time of bending it won't break.
From this you can see why we like fiber optics no?
But apart from the speed, just think how long it takes to make copper and how long it takes to make fiber optic. For copper wires, you just melt couple of bars of copper mix it with some cheap but good quality gold (it's because gold has properties that prevent copper form rusting). For glass you have to first melt certain minerals obtain from sand and other specially made chemicals to give the fiber a flexible feature. After making a bar of flexible glass you have to melt and pull it so it makes a thin line. Not only it takes longer to make fiber optics, its more expensive.
Now back to the article at hand from Engadget. For Nokia Siemens Network to develop a new technology that pushes a normal copper wire to transfer 825 Mbps? I don't know about you that to me that is damn well pretty amazing. My USB 2.0 plugs can do only 500Mbps, and that's just a short wire directly connected to my computer!
I don't know about you guys, but if Nokia Siemens Network plays this right they could score the big home run (Mind the pun).

TRON WATCH! Well 7R0N WATCH!
Check it out. We are obliviously still in the TRON phrase. And Bloody hell, the movie hasn't even come out yet.
Tron is awesome. Nothing else. Its just AWESOME!
First was the Biker Tron Suits, then Razer Tron gaming mouse keyboard AND mouse pad. And now this, the Tron legacy SHALL CONTINUE!!!
Look at the watch and how can you tell me that u don't like it's simplistic design, it's brilliant! So what if it takes like 30 seconds for you to process what time it is. You be looking at it for a whole minute just to see it move a bit!
They should just have a little USB port that is secretly hidden behind the watch or something. Then we could just plug it in our computers and let us change the time, color of the lights.
I believe ToykoFlash is planning to make the watch. And the designer is by designer Scott Galloway.
I don't care, I'm just going to buy one. As long as its blue or red, I'm going to buy one. End of Story!

Very Creepy Robot Dancing?
It is actually tapping its feet on the floor. I didn't know until now that the robots the companies are developed are advanced up to the stage of such move-ability.
Ok, it's not break dancing, its not doing mega high jumps across a 50 foot wide river. But its the little steps that count. Just around 10 years ago, Honda developing what people back then thought extremely hard to do. Honda presents their ASIMO robot.
Honda now develop their ASIMO robot to move actually quite fluent.
Interactive Presentation of the ASIMO
The HRP-4C robot compared with ASIMO robot, is slightly different. It looks less bulky, slim and an uncanny human face. The hands are a bit weird, they're like man hands...
Either way I say another 5 more years and a bit more funding future robots are going to be part of service industry.

Google Car!
Google Unmanned Motor Vehicles
I always wonder why google didn't started this when there was a street view look of pretty much the most popular cities around the world. As said on the video shown above, the Google asked from organization that has already started developing Unmanned Motor Vehicles.
Probably most of you guys know, there's a lot of companies and researchers that already started developing computer driven vehicles for a couple of years now. So what makes Google so different from the others? Everyone knows Google. So whatever they decide to do, people would know.
Would they do a good job? Well, I would think so. They have so much money, if there's any problem the cash is there to fix.

PS3 Move
I think it is a really good idea. I mean we all know PS3 graphics power is extreme, combining with a wider range of interactive capabilities. It makes Wii look like a child's play.
Even though I have to say that PS3 Move controller doesn't really look the best, its like a toddler's shaker melted with the Wii remote. The PS3 Move controller actually needs that little teletubby head to do the motion tracking. Three things that comes with the PS3 Move, a web camera for real-time visual tracking, the remotes and the accelerator to measure the force of the movement. It is literally the same as the Wii, the only difference it the motion tracking. Wii uses a infared sensors to track the remotes position. Whereas the PS3 Move using the webcam to track the little teletubby head moving around.
I haven't tried it myself, but what happens if there's background light? Or similiar color light. Not everyone likes to play the games hardcore with lights off and just the wide screen TV shining in their eyes.
Overall, I would like to buy this just to try it out. But until the games itself starts advance to a wider range of interactivity for the user. PS3 would be only but a tad more popular than Wii. I'll get back to you guys when I get to test out the PS3 Move controller.
But do remember! We still have consider Microsoft's Kinect when that comes out!

Razer Tron Keyboard and Mouse + Pad
Tron Gaming Devices from Razer
I don't about you guys but this is making me wanna die for the Tron movie to come out!
Tron Keyboard it lights up.
Tron Mouse it lights up.
Tron Mouse Pad it lights up.
'Wait... what?!' said the stunned audience.
Apparently the mouse pad lights up wherever you move your mouse, just like the light bikes! How awesome is that?!?!
TRON FOR THE LIGHT OF AWESOMENESS!
I am pretty much a Razer fanatic customer. I have Razer Deathadder, Razer Piranha, Razer Goliathus Control Edition and Razer Moray. I'm sorry, but I'm sure there are other gaming devices that is possibly equally as good as Razer but for me I love Razer for both looks and capabilities.
Thanks Razer again for making gaming one more step to being awesome.
Dual Screen Phone???
Engadget: Fujitsu dual-touchscreen concept phone hands-on
Ok, this is going back to my discussion on dual screens. Yes battery life is low, yes two screen is better than one and yes it looks awesome.
This is different. As we know that mobile devices compared with laptops with dual screen are two different things. But looking at Apple with their iPad, iPod Touch 4th generation and iPhone. The products are getting closer to closer to having similar laptop or desktop capabilities on mobile devices. If Apple manages to create their product closer to replicate same capabilities as a laptop or a desktop. Maybe I would need to re-think on have dual screens.
As I know right now, the reason why electronics eat battery like drinking soup has two points. One the requirement for electricity for the brain (CPU) to process the processes. Two is the LCD screen and lights to for us to ... well see.
Good thing I know about Apple's OS is simple, light and efficient, as compared with Windows well... it ain't good (Sorry, Windows still using you for gaming!). So by reducing one my points (as in the CPU eating the battery to process), that could prolong the battery life. If this dual screen mobile manages to last approximately the same time as well lets say the iPhone or any smartphones then viola.
One thing I like to raise, why don't we have mobile OS systems for laptops or desktop? They are normally by design, lighter, cheaper and efficient.

Tron Biker Suits!!!

An Interface Goggle!
Engadget: Recon-Zeal Transcend goggles now shipping, GPS and head-mounted display included
Offical Website: Recon-Zeal Transcend Goggles
Check it out peeps. The very first interface goggles is going into the market!
If you guys like snowboarding, skiing and any sports. Well this device is just going to take it to another level. It will bring sports games into reality.
I think this is jaw-droppingly good looking and geekiest as it will ever be. It quite simple, three buttons and a display screen bottom right corner. It would show multiple statistics or information depending how you select on the side of goggle.
I think the question now is.... WHY THE HELL IS THIS THE FIRST ONE TO COME OUT?!!?!??!
I mean come on, this idea is simple. A little screen at the corner three buttons and that's it!
You may say oh there might not be enough memory space to fit in the small space compartment it may have back a couple of years ago. Huh... hello? iPod Nano was small light and thin, even has a blood small screen.
You may say oh what about the GPS chip? That may take up alot of space in the goggles. Have you seen a GPS chip, or bluetooth chip? They are sssoooo freckishly small.
You may say oh what about battery life and the size of the battery to fit in it? Look if you're that gadget fanatic to obtain one of these. You probably have a portable battery charger for your mobile phone, especially for your iPhone or Android Phones. Battery life doesn't matter any more when this is the digital age, there are power plugs everywhere. Even a water proof power plug extension! The size of the battery? Well, I have two words for you lithium-ion batteries. The most reliable, long life and durable rechargeable battery being used in every electronic devices you have.
All in all, I say it about time this baby came out.
Dead Rising 2 Review
http://deadrising-2.com/
After watching my very first zombie movie written by yours truly George A. Romero. I always like the idea of the undead and the will to survive. Don't get me wrong, having an zombie apocalypse is just really REALLY bad but its something you might like to imagine What would you do if there is one?
Features:
I think this game stands out as one of the best zombie game out of the rest is the free roaming and making weapons with certain items. Sadly the game has time limits to the missions, so you can't just running killing zombies.
Graphics:
The game's graphics were pretty good for a game that requires massive numbers of 'actors' in one area. Its not high end extreme graphics like Crysis but it makes up for the entertainment factor.
Story Plot:
It ain't bad for a zombie game. Most of zombie games I have seen are just simple, bunch of zombies and a group of survivors getting from A to B. I think this game I have played so far have quite the range of possible side missions. It ranged from extreme violent psychotic break downs to simple cry for help situations. The main mission was pretty much linear throughout the game until the end.
I must say this game was pretty fun to play. I might continue to play just to max out the achievements or just have fun killing zombies. Although I wished that they had a unlimited time mode that we could achieve through some special means in the game. It would just allow people like me to just go around killing zombies with my PaddleSaw.

Dual Screen Laptops?
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/11/acers-dualscreen-laptop-leaks-out-with-sizable-screens-core-i5/
I just read this blog from Engadget. Dual Screen Laptop, not bad right? Well I originally had an idea or having a touch screen keyboard. The touch screen keyboard has the ability to set itself the interface according to what the program is currently operating. However, I came up with one problem, people actually like pressing buttons. The feeling to push down a button gives confirmation that you are actually pressing a button.
Also I picked up a clever point by a comment made in engadget 'NetworkDude', having two 15" screens can eat up battery like butter. As all laptop user would know, your laptop could only last 3-4 hours on average if your doing very small processes. Put in a game and that 3-4 hours downgrades all the way to 1-2 hours max. Window OSs kills battery worst than any other systems. Don't believe me? Press Ctrl Alt Del, bring up your task manager and then click the 'Processes' tab, I can almost guarantee you more than 40 processes are running or on standby even when your not doing anything. Mac OS and Linux OS, uses extreme simple programs or processes that reduces the CPU having to maintain and run the little programs. If you read 'NetworkDude' comment, I would completely agree. If we develop a more efficient OS or a longer battery life, then maybe we could prolong the dual screen laptop to a comparable battery life of 3-4 hours on average.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/08/toshiba-libretto-w105-review?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadget
If you guys looked at some more dual screen laptops, Toshiba is another dual screen laptop but in a smaller compact size. From the review by Engadget, they say its only has two hours after charged, scoring 3/10.
So is having two touch screen for a laptop or notebook a innovative big money making idea or a bust?
As of right now, I think its a bust. Considering the fact that its suppose to be a laptop or notebook, it would need to carry out quite alot of task such as word processing, powerpoint presentation or playing spider solitare. The battery isn't yet strong enoguh to support it. Including the psychological difference between buttons and touch screens. We might probably get a normal keyboard and plug that into the dual screen laptop whenever we have the chance to do it.
Yes, it is innovative but practicality it isn't.
Plus I think it more of just getting an innovative award for Toshiba's W105 really...

Do people really want to go 3D??
3D entertainment started around 1910s. 3D is a simply an illusionary affect on your eyes. 3D works with two motion pictures, the two motion pictures are essentially positioned the same angle as your eyes would be placed. The two pictures are combines and you just need a pair of 3D glasses to watch the film or photo. The 3D glasses filters the the image allowing your left eye to watch one of the pictures and the right viewing the other picture. As you may remember back, we used to have the red and blue 3D glasses, and now we have what looks like vintage style sunglasses. The difference is polarization, this means the lens has slits with different angles. So in order to filter the two pictures, the pictures are done with the a opposing angles.
http://science.howstuffworks.com/3-d-glasses2.htm
The question is why is 3D now the newest hype? 3D started with animations, this increase the number of customers inparticular with children to watch their movies. As more and more people like to watch movies in 3D, electronic manufacturing companies realize why not put 3D technology into our LCD screens, graphics card, recording camera. I think 3D became a big star in entertainment technology is when James Cameron directed the movie called Avatar. It was the extremely expensive to develop because it require two main things, one 3D recording cameras and two 3D motion capturing technology to create this Sci-fi fantasy world. As we know it was a major HIT, and more and more people demanded 3D technology to be implemented into all displays.
I think that 3D technology, is only going to last for a couple of years. I don't think it would be the new replacement for the current 2D scrrens. I mean who would like to wear 3D glasses whilst eating dinner watching tv shows, or spent hours of game time with 3D glasses on.
If only holograms were discovered and develop. However, the current holograms is with lasers and its kind of hard to change certain areas of the hologram with a specific color.
This link is an interactive history of 3D technology.

FPS Gaming Devices
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/23/cta-announces-ps3-assault-rifle-dignity-sold-separately/
Oh Come on!!! This is the worst idea I EVER seen. I thought this company has made a gun that I can point and aim the device as I would need on the screen.
To make it worst, one SINGLE MAN developed an actual VR gun gaming. Check out the site, it makes the CTA's ps3 assault rifle look like a peanut.
This awesome dude, made this VR game gun with one gyroscopic device, one lcd screen, sprinkle of homemade modding to a toy gun, last but not least a little dash of wiring.
Ok fine it costs US$250 for the VR Game Gun, were as CTA's is a $75. But LOOK at the difference:
One is basically a PS3 controller that shaped into a M4 assault rifle
OR an short version of a M17 with a screen that allows you to aim and shoot to play the game.
For me as a FPS gamer, I would die for a VR Game Gun. Whereas the CTA's PS3 assault rifle well, it just like title I lose some of my dignity.

Touch Screens
I just saw this today surfing on engadget. It's a demostration of using a touch screen intregrated laptop to play Supreme Commander.
Touch Screen with Supreme Commander.
How awesome is this!?!? I always wonder when was touch screen going to be used for gaming. It's brillaint! I bet that iPhone users play with their device nearly everyday whenever they have the chance. So why can't we place it on our computers?
(Tom Cruise in Minority Report, 2002)
The intergration of the touch screen systems to computers, has started many many years ago (more than 25 years!). The invention of very first 'touch screens' was back in 1971 by Dr Sam Hurst (founder of Elographics), that was 29 years ago! The touch screen system wasn't entirely a touch screen we now know, it was more of a sensor (quite massive). It was only until 1974s, Dr Sam Hurst created a transparent touch screen system. This raised one main question for me, Why did the touch screens not catch on until now?(http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/bltouch.htm, by Mary Bellis)
(Image from Elographics, http://www.elotouch.com/AboutElo/History/default.asp.)
I believe, there were couple of reasons why there was no hype in touch screen systems. Personal Computers only just started, so thinking of commericalizing touch screens for day to day basis would be hard. The price to create and sell the device to the gernal public would be extremely high. Especially Dr Sam Hurst just invented it and started the Elographics company. CPUs' processing speed were extremely slow. So any programs created to process the touch screen data into the data would require too much power.
What about 10-20 years ago? Why nothing happen with touch screens until now? It was simple, no one bothered to make it for commerical purposes. Nor anyone bother to pay for the money to research in to improve the technology. Back 10 years ago, most of the touch screens, I have seen was paid and used for tourist or medical purposes. Even at times, the touch systems I've seen used from non government organization, had only a small handful of them installed around the area. Of course it wasn't
Now that Apple created the iPhone, every mobile manufacturing company decides to cahse up and create their own. I am not saying that Apple made the first touch screen phone, but it is the only brand that has successfully caught the world's attention. Of course, Apple was aided by its own branding and popularity from the Macintosh and iPod. Applying touch screens to the general public, only started as a marketing strategy about 5-10 years ago. A point, I must also point out about the major difference with the sales in Apple's touch technology with the others. Apple's product is much quicker and accurate than the most of the smartphone. Some smartphones' touch screens, doesnt seem to respond or have the smooth flow between your fingers and the phone's screen.
I hope because Touch screens system nowadays gotten alot better. It has a higher durability, faster processing speed, and accurate readings. I really do hope touch screens becomes the next new interface between user and computers. It brings fantasies from sci-fi movies another step closer. So then gaming and operating the computers would be alot more fun and efficient at the same time. Soon I really hope that computers wouldn't need keyboards or mouse anymore. It would just be a big screen that you just type, point and click with your fingers. =)

FIRST POST!!!
Essentially this blog site, I hope to talk about electronic gadgets, games with new features, toys, technological advancements that either interests or annoys me. Also maybe time now and again, blog about something funny or cool for you guys to watch.
I hope you guys get to enjoy my blogging and complaints.
